The Blockbuster Bet

Lately, some supposed "smart money" folks have been picking up Blockbuster (BBI .77).

BBI may get some press, because tonight at 20 Blockbuster stores, the Trekkies will invade, when they have a midnight release of the DVD "Star Trek."

But the stores aren't the story at BBI. It's the kiosks. And BBI has been replacing some of the New Release kiosks for Blockbuster's.

You still can rent your movies for a $1 a day, and have a larger selection and number of movies, and if you punch in the coupon on the machine, you get a freebie to try the service.

Kiosks. That's the bet on BBI.
